Understanding

There have been numerous times in my life when I’ve tried to handle things on my own without anyone’s help. And I’ve usually made it through – sometimes with great difficulty.

But it’s the times that I’ve reached out to someone whether for help or just a word of encouragement that things were so much easier. So it frustrates and hurts me when someone I love refuses my support.

I guess I get it. I can think of one particular instance where I didn’t want to have anyone bear the burden I was carrying…especially those I loved. I tried to give it just to God but I was miserable. It turns out I didn’t have to be. When I finally couldn’t bear it any longer, I opened up to a close friend. I know she felt my pain, but she allowed me to release a bit of that burden through her constant support and love.

That’s what I want to give…but you can’t make someone accept it. My heart hurts. I pray for all my friends and family this night. Every single one of us has burdens, some heavier than others. God can handle it all, but He also created us for fellowship and support of each other.

Sometimes in our lives
We all have pain
We all have sorrow
But if we are wise
We know that there’s always tomorrow

Lean on me, when you’re not strong
And I’ll be your friend
I’ll help you carry on
For it won’t be long
‘Til I’m gonna need
Somebody to lean on

Please swallow your pride
If I have things you need to borrow
For no one can fill those of your needs
That you won’t let show

You just call on me brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you’d understand
We all need somebody to lean on

If there is a load you have to bear
That you can’t carry
I’m right up the road
I’ll share your load
If you just call me

Call me (if you need a friend)
Call me (call me)
Call me (if you need a friend)
Call me (if you ever need a friend)
Call me (call me)
Call me
Call me (if you need A friend)
